COMPOSITION AND FORM OF ISSUE:

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES:

Pharmacodynamics. Sleeping, sedative, antihistamine, antiallergic. The blocker of H ₁ -receptor histamine group of ethanolamines with pronounced sedative and M-cholinolytic effect.
Penetrates into the central nervous system, has a sedative and hypnotic effect. It facilitates falling asleep, prolongs the duration and improves the quality of sleep, does not change the physiological phases of sleep.
Pharmacokinetics. After oral intake is well absorbed in the digestive tract. It penetrates through the histohematological barriers (including BBB) and is distributed in tissues and organs. In a small amount penetrates into breast milk.Metabolised in the liver. Excreted by the kidneys (60% unchanged) and partially through the intestine. Can penetrate into breast milk.

INDICATIONS:

sleep disorder, insomnia.

APPLICATION:

the initial dose ^of _1/2 tablet (7.5 mg) for 15 30 minutes before the proposed bedtime. Depending on the individual reaction of the patient, the dose can be increased to 1 1 ^1/2 2 tablets (15 mg 22.5 mg 30 mg). The initial course of treatment is 2 5 days. If sleep disturbances continue, you need to consult a doctor. The maximum duration of treatment is no more than 2 months.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

hypersensitivity to the drug; angle-closure glaucoma; difficulty urinating caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia; period of pregnancy and lactation, use in children.

SIDE EFFECTS:

drowsiness in the morning (you need to reduce the dose), dry mouth, disruption of accommodation; rarely constipation, urinary retention.
Side effects are rare and are due to the anticholinergic effect of doxylamine.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

the duration of sleep after taking the drug should be at least 7 hours.
In the morning, after the evening reception of the drug, you should avoid sudden movements, because it is possible to slow down the reaction and dizziness.
When using doxylamine in the daytime, it is necessary to avoid the management of vehicles, as well as other activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.
For the duration of treatment should be excluded from drinking alcohol.

INTERACTIONS:

increases the inhibitory effect on the central nervous system barbiturates, benzodiazepines, clonidine, opioid analgesics, neuroleptics, ethanol. Antidepressants (with the exception of selective MAO inhibitors), central antitussives, tranquilizers can significantly enhance the sedative effect of doxylamine. With simultaneous use with atropine and atropine-like drugs, imipramine, antiparkinsonian drugs with anticholinergic action, disopyramide, neuroleptics of the phenothiazine series, spasmolytics, the risk of development of anticholinergic side effects (dry mouth, delayed urination, constipation) increases.

OVERDOSE:

symptoms: increased daytime sleepiness, depression, anxiety, impaired coordination of movements, tremor, athetosis, mydriasis, hyperemia of the facial skin, hyperthermia. In severe cases convulsive syndrome, coma with cardiorespiratory collapse.
Treatment: symptomatic, if necessary, injection of anticonvulsants, IVL.
