Composition

active ingredients: 1 tablet contains the extract of valerian (roots) of water-ethanol dry (Valeriana officinalis L., radix, extractum hydroalcoholic siccum) (4-7: 1) (extractant - ethanol 70% (v / v)) - 35 mg extract (Melissa officinalis L., folium, extractum siccum) (3-6: 1) (extractant - ethanol 50% (v / v)) - 17.5 mg of peppermint leaves extract (Mentha piperita L., folium , extractum siccum) (3-6: 1) (extractant-ethanol 40% (v / v)) - 17.5 mg
auxiliary substances: glucose solution, silicon dioxide colloid, maltodextrin, peppermint essence in powder, lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, crospovidone, talc, magnesium stearate

Persen ® is a herbal preparation with a mild sedative effect.

The combination has a mild calming effect and is indicated for the elimination of a weak transient nervous tension (as a daily sedative in case of mental stress, agitated state, irritability).

Valerian has a sedative effect. It positively affects the well-being of irritation symptoms, such as anxiety, agitation and stress due to nervous overexertion. When insomnia helps quickly fall asleep.

Melissa also has a sedative and spasmolytic effect.

Mint pepper is traditionally used in combination with valerian in soothing preparations.

The drug is used for neuroses, when the use of potent sedatives is inappropriate. Indications for its use are determined solely on the basis of long-term experience of use.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to valerian, lemon balm, peppermint or other components of the drug. Pronounced arterial hypotension, bronchial asthma. Depression or other conditions, accompanied by depression of the central nervous system.

Interaction with other drugs and other interactions

Data on interactions with other drugs are limited. Before applying the drug simultaneously with other medicines, you should consult your doctor.

Clinically significant interactions with active substances that are metabolized by CYP 2D6, CYP3A4 / 5, CYP1A2, or CYP2E1 have not been detected.

It is not recommended simultaneous use with synthetic sedatives (benzodiazepines) without consulting a doctor.

With simultaneous use, it is possible to strengthen the effect of other sedatives and hypnotics, spasmolytic, analgesic, anxiolytic drugs, alcohol.

Application features

Patients with severe liver dysfunction or suffered a serious liver disease in the past should be used with caution.

Patients with gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn) should avoid using drugs containing peppermint leaves, as this can worsen their condition.

Patients with cholelithiasis or other diseases of the bile duct and gall bladder should be very careful to prescribe drugs containing peppermint leaves.

The drug contains lactose, so it should not be used in patients with rare hereditary intolerance to galactose, a deficiency of lactase or a syndrome of glucose-galactose malabsorption.

1 tablet contains 14 mg of glucose solution and 67 mg of sucrose, therefore, should not be administered to patients with rare hereditary forms of fructose intolerance, a deficiency of sucrose-isomaltase or a syndrome of glucose-galactose malabsorption.

During the use of the drug should refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages.

Use during pregnancy or lactation

The effectiveness and safety of the drug during pregnancy and lactation are not established, therefore it is not recommended to use Persen ® during these periods.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or other mechanisms

The drug can affect the ability to drive and machinery, so during its use it is recommended to refrain from driving or other mechanisms until the individual sensitivity is clarified.

Dosing and Administration

Adults and children over 12 years of age: with a mental load, an excited state or irritability, it is recommended to use 3 tablets 3 times a day; when insomnia - 3 tablets an hour before bedtime.

Tablets should be swallowed whole, washed down with water, regardless of food intake.

For the drug is characterized by a gradual manifestation of the action. To achieve the optimal effect of treatment, it is recommended to use it for at least 14 days.

The duration of treatment is not limited. Even with prolonged use of the drug, addiction is not observed. After cessation of treatment, withdrawal syndrome is absent.

If there is no improvement after 14 days from the beginning of treatment, you should consult your doctor.

Children

Data on the use of the drug in children under the age of 12 years are not available, so it is not recommended to apply it to this category of patients.

Overdose

Symptoms. A dose of about 20 g of valerian roots, equivalent to about 103 tablets of the Persen ® drug, can cause such minor symptoms as fatigue, spasms, a feeling of contraction in the chest, dizziness, tremor of hands, dilated pupils.These symptoms disappear within 24 hours. In case of an overdose with preparations containing valerian, headache, drowsiness, lethargy, general weakness, abdominal pain, nausea, decreased hearing and visual acuity, bradycardia / tachycardia, decreased concentration of attention, increased sedation.

There are no reports of cases of overdose with leaves of lemon balm and peppermint.

Treatment: symptomatic therapy (gastric lavage, activated charcoal).

Adverse Reactions

From the side of the digestive tract: the frequency can not be evaluated - nausea, spasms; possibly exacerbation of heartburn.

Very rarely observed drowsiness, asthenic manifestations (weakness, decreased mood and performance, suppression of emotional reactions), dizziness, depression. If other side effects occur (for example, hypersensitivity reactions, including rash, itching, urticaria, redness and swelling of the skin), consult a doctor.
