Studies of people who eat foods that contain less vitamin C could show the link between dietary vitamin C and cardiovascular disease. Therefore, leading vitamin C researchers have begun to assume that vitamin C can play an important role in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, but only when using 100-200 mg per day.

In a double-blind study, 250 mg of vitamin C was slowly released twice a day for three years. As a result, the progression of atherosclerosis slowed down by 15% compared with the control group. Many doctors assume that people take vitamin C - often 1 gram (1000 mg) per day - despite the fact that studies do not yet confirm the efficacy of a dose of above 500 mg per day.

Ascorbic acid: a method for use in arterial hypertension

Some doctors recommend that patients with arterial hypertension take vitamin C, which has been found to have an effect of lowering blood pressure.

In 29 randomized controlled trials, the addition of vitamin C in comparison resulted in a statistically significant decrease in systolic blood pressure (average of 3.84 mm Hg) and diastolic (mean 1.48 mm Hg) blood pressure.
