Composition of the medicinal product:

1 capsule contains 50 mg of dry extract of valerian, 25 mg of dry extract of peppermint, 25 mg of lemon balm extract (lemon balm); auxiliary substances: lactose, talc, silicon dioxide colloidal anhydrous.

Dosage form

Capsules. Capsules having a body and lid, the contents of the capsule - powder or granules from light brown to brown with a specific odor. A yellowish or grayish shade is allowed, as well as the presence of dark and white impregnations.

Sedasen - a combined preparation of plant origin , the effect of which is due to the synergistic effects of its constituent components.

Biologically active substances of valerian (esters of borneol and isovaleric acid, valeropotriates, valerine alkaloids and hotenin) reduce the excitability of the central and autonomic nervous system, have a pronounced sedative, hypnotic effect, have spasmolytic and choleretic effect, enhance the secretory activity of the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract, potentiate the effects of other sleeping pills and sedatives.

In addition, the complex of biologically active substances of valerian has a positive neuroregulatory effect on the activity of the heart muscle (slows the heart rate and dilates the coronary vessels).

Peppermint has a wide spectrum of pharmacological activity. Leaves peppermint contains 1-3% essential oil, which includes menthol (up to 70%) and its esters, ketone-menton, oleic and ursolic acid, flavonoids. When ingested, these components of peppermint have a moderate antispasmodic, sedative, hypnotics, as well as choleretic effect, reduce nausea, gently stimulate secretion of digestive glands, dilate coronary vessels.

The main active ingredients of lemon balm (balm) are components of essential oil (0.06-1.0%): citral (up to 62%), geraniol, menalool, peral, caryophyllene - have sedative, anticonvulsant, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, antispasmodic and antiemetic effects. In addition, the active components of melissa improve the digestive process, have a mild choleretic effect, normalize the reduced appetite, contribute to the restoration of saprophyte flora of the intestine and the secretion of digestive enzymes.

The drug does not cause addiction.

Indications for use

Easy forms of neurasthenia and neurosis, accompanied by nervous tension, irritability, anxiety, a sense of fear, depression, fatigue; light forms of sleep disorder; in the complex therapy of attacks of headache with migraine caused by nervous overexertion, mild forms of dysmenorrhea, climacteric syndrome; neurocirculatory dystonia with tachycardia, cardialgia or hypertensive syndrome; constant mental stress ("manager's syndrome"); inadequate concentration of attention.

Do not exceed the recommended dose of the drug. Do not use in patients who are depressed.

Special caveats

Use during pregnancy or lactation. The negative effect of the drug was not noted. But the use of any medications, including Sedasen, during pregnancy should be carried out in the case when the expected benefit for the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and remains on the doctor's reasoning. It is not known whether active medicinal herbs are excreted in breast milk, so if long-term treatment with the drug is necessary, breastfeeding should be limited for the duration of the drug.

Children Sedasen can be used from five years.

Dosing and Administration

Children aged 5 to 12 years, the drug is used for 1 capsule 1-3 times per day. In adults and children over 12 years of age, Sedasen used 1-2 capsules 2-3 times a day; with a mild form of insomnia - 1-2 capsules 1 hour before bedtime.The maximum daily intake for adults is 6 capsules, divided into three doses. Usually the course of treatment lasts from several weeks to three months, but if necessary, the chronic course of the disease can be increased to 6-12 months. If necessary, the course of treatment can be repeated. The drug does not cause addiction. If there is no improvement in the course of 14 days, treatment should be reviewed.


The toxic effect of the drug is not noted. With a significant overdose (60 capsules), development of depression, lethargy, inhibition, drowsiness, dizziness, lowering of blood pressure, dyspeptic disorders is possible. There is no specific treatment, it is necessary to rinse the stomach, conduct symptomatic therapy.

Side effects

It is possible to develop lethargy, depression, weakness, decrease in efficiency and concentration of attention, drowsiness, dizziness, abdominal cramps, nausea. Possible development of hypersensitivity reactions.

Interaction with other drugs and other interactions

The drug potentiates the action of hypnotics, sedatives, spasmolytic, hypotensive drugs of central action and alcohol.

2 years. Do not use the product after the expiration date printed on the package.
