Composition

active substances: ethyl ester of a-bromizovaleric acid, solution of menthol in menthyl ether of isovaleric acid, mint oil, hop oil; 1 capsule contains ethyl ester of a-bromizovaleric acid 16.63 mg, a solution of menthol in menthyl ester of isovaleric acid 45.74 mg, hop oil 0.17 mg, mint oil 1.18 mg
auxiliary substances : sunflower oil, sucralose, glycerol monostearate, silicon dioxide colloidal
composition of the capsule shell: gelatin, glycerin, maltitol liquid, cellulose microcrystalline guar gum, potato starch, xylitol, sodium methylparaben (E 219), sodium propylparaben (E 217), lemon flavor, purified water.

Dosage form

Capsules are soft.

Basic physical and chemical properties:

Soft gelatin capsules are oval in shape from light yellow to light brown in color. The contents of the capsules are an oily suspension with a characteristic odor.

Corvalol K is a soothing and antispasmodic agent whose action as a complex preparation is determined by the components that make up its composition.

Ethyl ester of α-bromizovaleric acid has a reflex calming and spasmolytic effect due to irritation of predominantly oral and nasopharyngeal receptors, a decrease in reflex excitability in the central parts of the nervous system, increased inhibition in neurons of the cortex and subcortical structures of the brain, as well as a decrease in activity of the central vasomotor centers and a direct local antispasmodic effect on smooth muscle vessels.

Validol or a solution of menthol in the menthyl ester of isovaleric acid has a sedative as well as a moderate coronary expansive effect due to action on the sensory nerve receptors of the oral mucosa.

Oil m ¢ five contains essential oils, about 50% menthol and 4-9% menthol esters. They are able to irritate the "cold" receptors of the oral cavity and reflexively dilate the blood vessels of the heart and brain, to cause a calming and mild choleretic effect. Peppermint oil has antiseptic, antispasmodic effects, the ability to eliminate flatulence. Irritating the receptors of the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines, enhances the intestinal peristalsis.

Hop oil has a reflex vasodilator and spasmolytic effect, eliminates the phenomena of flatulence.

Pharmacokinetics.

When taken under the tongue, the absorption of the drug begins already with the mucous membrane of the oral cavity.The action develops in 5 minutes and lasts for 3-6 hours.

Indications

• Neuroses with increased irritability;
• in the complex therapy of arterial hypertension and vegetovascular dystonia;
• indistinctly expressed spasms of the coronary vessels, tachycardia
• spasms of the intestine.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, bromine;
• severe arterial hypotension
• acute myocardial infarction.

Interaction with other drugs and other interactions

Corvalol K enhances the sedative effect of psychotropic drugs, opioid analgesics, alcohol and anesthesia for their simultaneous use.

Possible potentiation of the action of antihypertensive drugs with simultaneous application with Corvalol K.

Corvalol K reduces the headache caused by the intake of nitrates.

Application features

In cases where pain in the heart does not go away after taking the drug, you must always consult a doctor to exclude acute coronary syndrome.

The drug contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) / dose of sodium, that is practically free of sodium.

The excipients included in the preparation may cause allergic reactions (possibly, delayed).

Use during pregnancy or lactation.

The use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation is possible if, in the opinion of the doctor, the expected positive effect for the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus / child.

Dosing and Administration

Corvalol K capsules are taken under the tongue. The capsule is kept under the tongue until it is completely dissolved. To accelerate the effect, you can crush the capsule with your teeth.

Take regardless of meals 2-3 times a day for 1 capsule. If necessary (severe tachycardia and spasm of the coronary vessels) a single dose can be increased to 2 capsules.

The duration of the drug is determined by the doctor depending on the clinical effect and the tolerability of the drug.

Children

Overdose

Long-term use is not recommended because of the possible accumulation of bromine in the body and the development of bromine poisoning.

Symptoms: headache, nausea, agitation, impaired heart activity, central nervous system depression, lowering blood pressure.

Treatment: withdrawal of the drug and symptomatic treatment.

Adverse Reactions

Corvalol K is usually well tolerated. In some cases, such side effects can occur:

from the nervous system: drowsiness, dizziness, decreased concentration of attention;

from the digestive tract: discomfort in the abdomen, mild nausea

from the immune system: allergic reactions, including Quincke's edema, urticaria, rash, itching
