In various pathological conditions, especially in the case of defining organic lesions of the heart, reflex bradycardia may develop. Her appearance often indicates a deterioration in the health of the patient, although in some cases it is possible to determine the physiological disturbance of the rhythm associated with the effects of external environmental factors.

Reflex bradycardia is a symptomatic pathology that occurs on the background of many organic heart diseases. Also, a number of changes in the functioning of the internal organs and the brain leads to a reflex retardation of the heart rhythm.

In most cases, refractive bradycardia does not pose a health hazard, but there are cases where slowing down the rhythm may provoke a cardiac arrest.

Standard diagnostic techniques are used to diagnose a pathological condition (electrocardiography, ultrasound of the heart). If necessary, additional research is conducted in the form of trial texts with medicines. After setting the cause of the appearance of refractive bradycardia and its elimination, the heart rhythm is usually restored. In rare cases, specific treatment is required.

General recommendations

Reflex bradycardia may develop at the most inappropriate time, so it is important to know what factors trigger development of a slow heartbeat:

  • Wearing tight clothing or jewelry, especially in the area of the carotid sinus (that is, on the neck).
  • Long press on the eyeballs.
  • Wrong use of antiarrhythmic drugs (in such cases, the reflex principle arises medication bradycardia).
  • Long staying in a cold room.

There are indirect, but equally important reasons for the development of reflex bradycardia, which if necessary, should be eliminated, after which the heart will contract in the normal rhythm.

  • Increased levels of cholesterol and glucose in the blood.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Hypothyroidism (dysfunction of the thyroid gland).
  • Infectious diseases.
  • Increased body weight.

Reflex reduction in heart rate usually takes place independently. It is enough to eliminate the reason for the development of rhythm disturbance (untie the tie, warm up, stop the misuse of antiarrhythmic remedy). Therefore, the specific treatment for the presented pathology in most cases is not carried out. In extreme cases, a relationship of rhythm disorder with organic heart disease (myocardial infarction, IHD, hypertension, myocarditis) can be observed, then therapeutic drugs are selected.

Medicinal treatment of reflex bradycardia

Normal blood supply can be restored with Zelenin drops. This drug is widely used in cardiology. Its composition includes vegetable components (lily of the valley, valerianum, peppermint, grace), which advantageously distinguishes the remedy from synthetic medicines. With proper use it helps to eliminate manifestations of bradycardia, slightly reduces arterial pressure. It is recommended to take 15-20 drops before meals, two to three times a day.

Pharmacological products include those that are capable of increasing the heart rate in a short period of time. Such medicines include the following:

  • Isoprenaline - often prescribed for bradycardia, which developed in the face of a hypertensive crisis. For the treatment, tablets are available which are absorbed under the tongue until complete dissolution. Under very low pressure, the drug is given intravenously at the rate of 2-3 mg per kg.
  • Isadrin - refers to isoprenaline analogues and is similar in effect to adrenaline (natural pacemaker), only efficacy is manifested for a longer time. For convenient and high-dose reception, sublingual tablets are produced that need to be slowly dissolved. It is recommended to take 3-4 tablets per day.

Removal of signs of bradycardia can be done with the help of eufillin and theophylline, but this is an extreme case, since their use is more practical in pulmonology due to the effect of drugs on bronchial receptors.

The above drugs are often used in the hospital, may be prescribed by the attending physician. The only unacceptable self-treatment is due to the high risk of heart failure.

Auxiliary treatment for refractive bradycardia

There is auxiliary therapy, often used in combination with other medications from bradycardia. In particular, when it is prone to a slowed rhythm, it is recommended to use tinctures of eleutherococcus, ginseng. The beneficial properties are Chinese Lemongrass and Manchu Aralia. With the help of these means, stimulation of blood vessels is carried out, which results in an increase in blood pressure and heart rate.

If the patient was given synthetic drugs for the elimination of bradycardia, then when using them with the above-listed plant components, a more pronounced effect of action may be observed.

Reflex bradycardia in most cases goes on its own. To a lesser degree, medical treatment is required, and even less often - surgical intervention. The last method of therapy is often used in the event of an obvious risk of sudden cardiac arrest, so an artificial rhythm driver, ie, a pacemaker, is implanted. With a properly selected model and proper application, the EKS can serve for a long time. For this, a comprehensive examination of the patient is performed before surgery.
